Dean Flemming

Dean Flemming has been a lecturer in New Testament at EuNC since 2000. He received a B.A. from Mid-AmericaNazareneUniversity, a Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in New Testament Exegesis from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.

Prior to coming to EuNC, he was professor of New Testament at Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary,
Philippines (1987-97). During that time he was on the faculty of the Asia Graduate School of Theology and taught in various countries throughout Asia and the Pacific. He has also taught at Mid-AmericaNazareneUniversity and Mount VernonNazareneUniversity.

In addition to writing various articles for professional and popular journals and multi-author works, Dean is the author of Contextualization in the New Testament: Patterns for Theology and
Mission (InterVarsity Press 2005), which received a 2006 Christianity Today book award. His most recent book is Philippians in the New Beacon Bible Commentary series (Beacon Hill 2009). He has been a missionary with the Church of the Nazarene since 1987. He has also served as a local church pastor in Japan and the U.S. and was ordained in 1982.
