Jay Sunberg received his B.A. n Religion from MidAmerica Nazarene University, his M.Div. from Nazarene Theological Seminary (NTS) and is currently enrolled in the D.Min. program at NTS. He was ordained by the Church of the Nazarene in 1998 by the Kansas City district.

Sunberg, his wife, Teanna, and his four daughters currently live and minister in Sofia, Bulgaria. They began as Eastern European missionaries in Moscow in 1994 and moved to Bulgaria in 1998. He is the District Superintendent for the Bulgaria District and also serves as the director for Nazarene Compassionate Ministries – Bulgaria and as Bulgaria's Learning Centre Coordinator.
